Fifteen years of dealership finance, built on a foundation of public accounting at BDO and sharpened across a decade and a half as the financial backbone of a multi-rooftop RV and automotive group in BC and Alberta. Runners RV and Automotive Group · Cranbrook and Creston, BC
CFO across all group entities: Runners RV, Kokanee RV Sales, Runners Automotive Group, Castle Ford, Sun Valley Nissan, Subaru of Cranbrook, Hillcrest Hyundai, and Arrow Motors Volkswagen, with a dedicated controller supporting operations at Westcastle Motors. Responsible for every aspect of financial operations across two provinces.
Capital and Floor Plan
  • Managed all floor plan credit facilities across RV and automotive inventory lines, overseeing lender relationships, curtailment schedules, and interest optimization to keep carrying costs lean without constraining inventory availability.
  • Monitored aged inventory across all rooftops, flagging units approaching cost thresholds and coordinating with sales and GM teams to accelerate turns before floor plan interest eroded deal margins.
  • Supported a 50% expansion of the dealer group through floor plan structuring and tax planning that gave ownership the financial runway to act on acquisition opportunities as they arose.
  • Maintained full covenant compliance reporting across all credit facilities, delivering accurate financial packages to lenders on schedule and surfacing potential ratio concerns well before reporting deadlines.
  • Managed inter-company loan accounts and holdco/opco balances across all entities, keeping inter-entity positions clean, reconciled, and audit-ready at all times.
Reporting and Deal Integrity
  • Closed monthly books consistently on a tight schedule, delivering financial statements to ownership and GMs with enough lead time to make decisions rather than simply receive results.
  • Tracked front and back end gross profit per unit across all departments and rooftops, giving ownership a reliable read on margin performance and flagging compression before it became a pattern.
  • Reviewed every deal for accuracy prior to funding, catching structuring errors, missing documentation, and compliance gaps before they reached the lender and created delays or triggered chargebacks.
  • Managed F&I chargeback tracking and recovery across all stores, maintaining reconciliation processes that protected reserve income and ensured disputes were resolved promptly.
  • Submitted all OEM financial statements across GM, Ford, Nissan, Subaru, Hyundai, and Volkswagen franchises monthly, maintaining the accuracy and performance ratios that underpin healthy manufacturer relationships.
  • Oversaw warranty and OEM incentive reconciliation across all franchises, ensuring every eligible claim was captured, submitted correctly, and followed through to payment.
Operations and Risk
  • Built and maintained internal controls around cash handling, deal funding, and segregation of duties, creating processes that held up cleanly under external review and gave ownership genuine peace of mind.
  • Led four complete DMS conversions from Reynolds and Reynolds to PBS Systems, managing data integrity, staff retraining, and parallel reporting across staggered rollouts at each location.
  • Assisted ownership through multiple real estate and land transactions tied to group expansion, coordinating legal counsel, lender requirements, and financing structures at each step.
  • Recruited, trained, and developed office staff across the group including bookkeepers, office managers, and AR/AP personnel, building back office teams that ran reliably day to day.
  • Managed group-wide payroll, HR, IT systems, insurance, and risk programs while serving as the primary internal point of contact for all external legal counsel and government compliance matters.
